As more and more Office 365 customers are moving their data to SharePoint Online, Office 365 Groups or Microsoft Teams the demand for storage space is exponentially increasing. Customers are moving content to SharePoint to take advantage of new team collaboration and enterprise content management experiences, while moving off on-premise servers, file shares, and 3rd party cloud offerings. To address this increased need, Microsoft announced on April 27, 2018 that all Office/Microsoft 365 subscriptions that have licenses for SharePoint Online will receive a 20x increase in storage space per user license storage allocation. This will increase to 1 TB plus 10 GB per user license purchased, up from 1 TB plus .5 GB per user license purchased. For example, if you have 50 users you will now receive 1.5 TB of SharePoint Online storage space (that’s 1 TB + 50 users x 10 GB) Note this does not include SharePoint Online kiosk plans including Office 365 F1 and Microsoft 365 F1. For more information on this significant change please refer to the Microsoft announcement blog – Increase in SharePoint Online storage allocation.
